UNIVERS PUJOL 2019 | Torrebesses and La Granadella host the First Campus and International Guitar Competition

Chilean guitarist Nicolás Acevedo, who is currently studying a master’s degree at the Liceo Conservatory, has won the first edition of the Pujol Contest. The members of the Jury formed by the pedagogues Carlos Herraiz and Raúl Viela, the Conservatories of Monzó and Lleida, together with the guitarist Inmaculada Balsells, have unanimously deliberated this prize endowed with 1,500 euros and two concerts in Barcelona and Lleida. The Serbian Ljubica Bukvic, second and third place by the Paraguayan Javier Costa, with prizes of 1,000 and 500 euros respectively. Held in the magnificent auditorium of the Granadella Civic Center, headquarters of the Pujol Competition. The exciting event already has the dates for the second edition that will take place from July 31 to August 2, 2020, a key date that will be the 40th anniversary of the death of the master Pujol.

Along with more participants from Ecuador, Paraguay, Brazil, Chile, Germany and Catalonia, they had the opportunity to enjoy an innovative Campus created for the occasion and made up of expert physiotherapists, psychologists and pedagogues who cultivated body and mind with the aesthetic philosophy of the compositional work of the teacher Emili Pujol. The Dry Stone Interpretation Center became an experimental research space for the guitar instrument.

The Campus was completed with nightly concerts in different heritage sites in Torrebesses and La Granadella. And the Emili Pujol Symposium, a few testimonial days transformed into talks, walks and an emotional visit to Mas Janet, the manor house of the master Pujol, where the participants took as a souvenir a leaf from a laurel tree that mysteriously was born the same day he died his teacher Francisco Tárrega.
