On Saturday, June 28, 150 people attended the opening of the 3rd Garrigues Guitar Festival “Memorial Emili Pujol” with the 25th Anniversary concert of the Barcelona Guitar Orchestra, at the Les Borges Oil Pavilion. As a guest artist, cellist Laura Sanz García performed, along with the orchestra, works by Sanz, Villalobos, Piazzolla and Falla, among others.

The Consell Comarcal, organizer of the festival, highlights “the participation and dedication of the public that attended the concert on Saturday, which makes us predict a good reception from the public in the next concerts,” says Isidre Pinyol, Culture technician of the Advice.

The next performance of the Garrigues Guitar Festival will be “1714. The guitar in Catalonia”, by guitarist Rafael Bonavita, this Monday, June 30, at 7:30 p.m., in the Patio of the Ilerdenses Studies Institute of Lleida. Bonavita will take a tour of the music that was heard in the different environments and social extracts of Catalonia in 1714, a hectic, turbulent time full of important social and political events.

Until next August 23, a total of 10 concerts will be organized, both with great masters of the instrument and with young talents.

Vinaixa, Espluga Calba and Cogul are the municipalities that support the international event this year, along with the usual ones such as Granadella, Les Borges Blanques, Juneda, Arbeca, La Pobla de Cérvoles and Lleida.
