La Granadella | June 14, 2013 | 10:00am

Next Monday, June 17, the Duo Zoco will be in charge of inaugurating the II Les Garrigues Guitar Festival, Emili Pujol Memorial in the IEI courtyard. This festival will last throughout the summer and presents a program full of performances, 9 in total (3 more than last year) in various towns in the Garrigues.

In this second edition of the contest you can see some novelties compared to the previous year. The first is the possibility of enjoying various performances in a different format. It is about “experiences with the senses” and consists of listening to concerts in places such as Mas Blanch and Jové, the Clos Pons winery or the Miravall farmhouse while the public enjoys a wine tasting or a gastronomic tasting. On the other hand, from July 1 to 7, the first International Guitar, Lute and Vihuela Course will take place, a course aimed at intermediate, higher and professional level students. The different classes will be individual and collective, and throughout the week there will also be workshops, conferences, talks and visits.

Emili Pujol was born in La Granadella on April 7, 1886 and was one of the most outstanding Catalan guitar and viola instrumentalists. He was also a musicologist, educator and composer, being one of the most notable guitar players of this century and one of its best historians.
