After the successful participation in the second edition of the Pujol Campus and Contest, the organizers together with the advice of the Cercle Guitarrístic a Catalunya convene the third edition of the course and competition, with the intention of recovering and illustrating the compositional and musicological work of the illustrious master pedagogue.
The international guitarist Anabel Montesinos and the guitarist-composer José Antonio Chic will be the guest figures of this edition and the responsible professors who will lead the campus and competition. Montesinos is one of the most sought-after artists on the world guitar scene and she has recently been appointed as a professor of higher education and master’s degrees at the Conservatori Superior de Música Liceu de Barcelona. For his part, Chic is one of the reference composers in the chamber guitar instrument, director of the Ensemble XXI, great connoisseur of the work/figure of maestro Pujol and head of the classical guitar department at the Conservatorio Profesional Miguel Fleta de Monzón.
Universo Pujol will begin with the now usual Symposium, which will be illustrated with a series of activities in Granadella (routes, talks and presentations) and will begin with the concert by Anabel Montesinos on Friday, July 19 at the Santa Maria de Gràcia Church in the Granadella.
The next day will give way to the development of the Pujol Contest, the final of which will take place on Sunday, July 21 in the auditorium of the Granadella Civic Center with the presentation of awards to the three winners plus two special prizes from the public and the best interpretation of the works by Emili Pujol. In this third edition, two works by the maestro Emili Pujol have been selected, Bagatella and Barcarola, which will be developed in the qualifying and final of the competition.
Starting on Monday the 22nd, the Pujol Campus will be inaugurated, where the artists Montesinos and Chic will give both solo and chamber masterclasses to the registered participants, and who will also participate in some pedagogical sessions related to physical and psychological aspects with the participation of the team of Prevention in Performing Arts Center of Barcelona. All of this on campus will be taught at the Torrebesses Dry Stone Interpretation Center and where we will also enjoy some cultural outings. The course will end on Friday, July 27 with the closing ceremony of diplomas and a solo and guitar ensemble concert by the participants under the direction of its director José Antonio Chic.
But even with the Pujol Universe period having ended, the usual concerts of the Garrigues Guitar Festival Memorial Emili Pujol will continue to enliven the summer nights with the participation of a spectacular cast of artists that we will enjoy in heritage spaces thanks to the support of a large part of localities. of the Garrigues and Segrià region, under the organization of the Consell Comarcal de les Garrigues.
